Project Description

The bypass around Brighton will be a 9.5km four lane dual carriageway extending from the roundabout at the junction of the Midland and East Derwent Highways, to the northern side of Pontville.

Benefits

The project will provide a long term transport solution which compliments growth in Brighton and surrounding areas. It will remove congestion through Brighton and improve safety.

Funding

The Australian Government is providing $173.5 million towards this project. 

Timetable

An early Contractor Involvement contract has been awarded and an official commencement ceremony held in April 2009.  Major construction work has commenced and the project is expected to be completed by mid 2012.
