National Projects
National Projects targets projects on the National Network that will deliver the highest benefits to the nation. When completed, these projects will significantly improve the efficiency and safety of the National Network.
State by state breakdowns of the major road and rail projects delivered through the Nation Building Program are listed below.

Off-Network Projects
The Australian Government's Nation Building Program also provides funds to State, Territory and local governments for road, rail and intermodal projects not situated on the National Network.
In the May 2008 Budget, the Government announced ‘early start’ funding for some projects in 2008–09.
